Scheduling & Pricing
How fast can you come out?
For most San Diego County addresses, we offer same-day or next-day diagnostic visits. Emergency leaks and no-heat in winter are prioritized. Booking online before 11am usually means we're there that day.
Do you charge a service call fee?
Yes — a flat $170 diagnostic visit covers travel, on-site testing, and a written quote. If you approve the repair, the $170 is credited in full toward the repair invoice. No hourly drift, no upsells.
What does a typical repair cost?
Most San Diego spa repairs land between $250 and $850 all-in. Heater elements run $285–$425, pumps run $385–$795, control boards run $485–$1,150. See our
full pricing page for ranges by repair type.
Do you offer payment plans?
Most repairs are paid on completion (Stripe / card / check). For larger jobs ($1,500+) we can split into two payments — half on parts order, half on completion. Talk to us if cost is a concern; we'd rather be honest about what's worth fixing vs. replacing.
What kind of warranty do you offer?
90-day workmanship warranty on every repair. If the same part fails for the same reason within 90 days, we come back free. Manufacturer parts warranties pass through to you in full.
Service & Equipment
What spa brands do you service?
All major US brands — Sundance, Hot Spring, Jacuzzi, Caldera, Cal Spas, Marquis, Bullfrog, Master Spas, Hydropool, ThermoSpas, Watkins, D1 — plus most off-brand spas using Balboa, Gecko, or Hydro-Quip control packs.
Do you work on inflatable spas?
Generally no — inflatable spas (Lay-Z-Spa, Coleman, Intex) are typically not cost-effective to repair. Replacement parts are limited and the equipment is integrated. We can advise whether it's worth it, but most of the time we'll recommend replacement.
Do you replace covers, steps, lifters?
Yes. We carry custom covers (3" or 4", standard or premium), cover lifters (CoverLift, Cover Valet, UltraLift), spa steps, and surround skirting. Lead time on custom covers is 2–3 weeks.
Can you install a brand-new spa?
We don't sell new spas, but we install spas you've purchased — including electrical hookup, plumbing connection, leveling, and start-up. We're independent of any dealer, so our advice on which spa to buy is unbiased.
Do you move hot tubs?
Yes — within San Diego County. Includes drain, transport, reinstall, electrical hookup, and start-up. Quote depends on access at both locations and stairs/grade. $650–$1,400 typical range.
Maintenance & Operations
How often should I drain my hot tub?
Every 3–4 months. As your spa accumulates total dissolved solids (TDS), sanitizer becomes less effective and water turns foamy or cloudy. A proper drain, line flush, and refill resets everything. Our
Premium maintenance plan includes this every quarter.
What's the difference between Essential and Premium plans?
Essential ($99/mo) is one visit per month — chemistry balance, filter rinse, equipment check. Premium ($179/mo) is two visits per month plus quarterly drain & clean included, priority repair scheduling, and 10% off all parts & labor.
Do I need to be home for service visits?
For diagnostics — yes, we'll need access to the spa and equipment bay. For maintenance visits on a recurring plan — usually no, just give us gate codes and we'll handle it. We'll text or email a visit summary every time.
What chemicals do you use?
Standard sanitizer (chlorine or bromine, owner's choice), pH balance (sodium bisulfate / sodium carbonate), alkalinity adjuster, calcium hardness adjuster, and water clarifier as needed. We carry SpaGuard and Leisure Time products. Salt cell and ozone systems supported.
About the Company
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — fully licensed for spa & pool service in California, EPA 608 certified for refrigerant work on heat pumps, CPO (Certified Pool/Spa Operator), and carry $1M general liability insurance. Proof on request before your appointment.
What's the difference between you and a pool guy?
Pool guys understand pool chemistry and pumps, but most have never seen a spa control board. Spas have circuit boards from a half-dozen manufacturers, ozone systems, salt cells, and heat pumps. We work on hot water systems every day — pool guys work on them part-time.
Are you the same company as The Cold Standard?
Same team, sister brand.
The Cold Standard is our cold plunge service business — we expanded into spa repair because the equipment, chemistry, and skills overlap heavily.
Do you service commercial spas?
Yes — gyms, hotels, vacation rentals, recovery studios. Our Commercial plan is custom-priced based on visit frequency and spa count.
